July 20, 2025 Leak West of Hamlin - Boil Advisory

Regional Water System Update – July 20, 2025

  1. Regional Water received a call today from a customer in Audubon County west of Hamlin along Highway 44 with low water pressure. An operator was dispatched to investigate, and it was determined that there was a possible leak. The search was initiated, and crews are working diligently to locate the specific area. Due to the presence of a major fiber cable in the area, locates have been called in and we are waiting for the fiber company to flag their cable before the repairs can be made.

  2. The current situation has affected 64 Regional Water customers at this time, all of whom are in rural Audubon County. We have received no calls from anyone in Shelby, Pottawattamie, Cass or Harrison Counties as of this report concerning low or no pressure. All towers on the system have adequate pressure; however, any customer who has no pressure on their line should go into a boil advisory status until the repair is made. The 64 customers affected will be directly notified and will remain in a boil advisory until 2 consecutive days of bacteria testing results come back negative. Again, the locates have been called in, and crews are prepared to make repairs as quickly as possible.

  3. Reminder: In an effort to provide additional methods to communicate with customers and communities served by Regional Water, we have partnered with the Pottawattamie County GIS Department and other stakeholders to develop and provide an online dashboard that will provide up-to-date tower status and service area information. The community can access the dashboard on the RWRWA website and various websites of the county and municipal government entities within the Regional Water service areas.
